Kear Foundation General Organizational Statement of Purpose

Background and Context

The Kear Foundation is a Liberian Non-for-profit Organization formed with the aim to among other things, provide humanitarian aid to the suffering masses in the areas of Education, Health, Agriculture, water, Sanitation and hygiene. As it is a known fact that Liberia recently graduated from a protracted period of civil crises and is now on a very optimistic path to national development, graduating from crises to emergence, to sustainability, and now to development aimed at prosperity. The Kear foundation sees this period as a perfect time to participate in the process of national development in the humanitarian sector.

Now that the road to sustained development is becoming clearer by the day, the Kear foundation sees this period as a perfect opportunity to make available helping hand to bring about conditions necessary to yield poverty alleviation on the already stranded masses of the population of the country. Achieving this will require a whole lot of planning, programming, communication, coordination, and the development of a wholesome functioning system inculcating all that is required to deliver on set goals and policies designed to promote growth in the life and livelihood of the population. To this end, the organization has commenced its operation in Liberia with offices on S.D. Cooper Road in Paynesville..

Objective of the Foundation

Generally, the Kear Foundation is organized to, among other things, present a pure humanitarian relief package of assistance with sustained intervention into a number of areas ranging from Education to Sanitation with a number of other areas in between. Specifically, the Kear Foundation Seeks to make concrete, sustained, and comprehensive intervention in the lives of dwellers of our areas of coverage, which can be summarized as follow:

A. Education

1) Monitoring and supporting efforts aimed at exposing and preventing corruption in the education sector; 2) Standardization of activities in Public Schools 3) Establishment, Operation and Management of A public data base system aimed at keeping an eye on promotion activities in public schools 4) School Feeding 5) Provision of Education enablement items for kids commencing from Grade 3 and below

B. Health

1) Heath Promotion 2) Preventive Health Programs; 3) Maternal Motility Prevention 4) Infant Motility prevention 5) Minor Surgery Provision

C. Agriculture

1) Influencing the formation of Farming Cooperatives; 2) General Soil Testing 3) Training of Farmers 4) Introducing Crop Yield Preservation Processes 5) Value chain introduction

D. Water and Sanitation

1) Development of Mega water acquisition systems capable of serving multiple communities and or villages simultaneously 2) Maintenance of Existing water facilities; 3) Construction of Plastic Pyrolysis plant aimed at getting rid of the proliferation of Plastic Waste 4) Sanitation Promotion 5) Direct Intervention in Garbage Management Processes 6) Establishment of Plastic Buying Stations

E. Communication

1. To establish radio and TV stations 2. To decentralize information to the people in all the counties 3. Create a platform for people to express their thoughts on education, health, agriculture, water and sanitation related issues.

Recipients/Beneficiaries (Target Group)

Kear Foundation

Commencing from the population of rural communities in Montserrado, Margibi, Bong, and River Gee Counties. These areas have been chosen on the basis of nearness to the nation’s capital, availability of land space for agriculture on a pro-bono basis, willingness of the local population to work with us, and favourable climate to grow selected crops.

Scope of Coverage (Catchment Area)

In the above listed areas of intervention, the Kear Foundation seeks to cover the entire country but commencing with the above-mentioned areas of focus, after which we shall operate nationwide. This will provide the latitude to serve a huge number of people across the country simultaneously.

While executing the above mentioned, the Kear Foundation operates FM Radio and Television Stations aimed at providing information to the nation about the activities, accomplishment and general deportment of the organization. Although these stations will provide exclusive information of our activities nationwide, both are also opened to the airing of the activities of other Not-for-profit organizations operating nationwide. Additionally, we air other programs which are religious, political, and social, especially those targeting women and children as well as the elderly

General Work Mechanism

We aspire to adequate coordination, communication, effort streamlining, and synchronization, of activities across the country in an effort to yield maximum delivery of key outputs of activities. We develop appropriate working tools and delivery pathway aimed at ensuring that our activities and programs reach the intended target and deliver to them the desired relief packages.
